In my professional experiences presenting in front of the City's advisory bodies, I have participated in many respectful and open minded dialogue with committee members and City staff over the last 20 years. In 2019, I had an item for review at the CHC. This item concerned my personal residence and I hired an architectural historian to assist me with a report of findings. At the hearing, Mr. Papp exhibited an extremely adversarial attitude towards our architectural historian. In short, he verbally bullied our architectural historian on her findings and recommendations. It was unprofessional and disrespectful given his role as the CHC chair. After the meeting, City staff apologized for Mr. Papps behavior and asked if we wanted to file a formal complaint. We did not file anything formally, but did share our concerns with City staff at the time. This was not the first time our historian was treated so unprofessionally at a CHC hearing lead by Mr. Papp. From this personal experience, I find that Mr. Papp is not a good or fair minded representative for the City of SLO. He does not work in the best interest of the City. The only interests Mr. Papp represents are his own. Thank you for your consideration. Candice Wong 1
