Each piece of land in our downtown core that we cover with a new single story or two story building is a missed opportunity. Within our downtown, I believe it is important that we maximize our density when the opportunity arises. Not only will this increase the potential of affordability, but it also preserves our green space boundary. Up not out! If not here, where? When I see the compact housing in our downtown, especially north of Monterey Street, I think we need more of that. I rd lived on the 2 floor of a 4 story apartment (with no garage) as a young married man for years, and loved it! The green- belt is my backyard in a city like San Luis Obispo. We are fortunate. There are wonderful communities, all across the world where the downtown core averages 4 to 6 stories, buildings side by side; Copenhagen, Florence, Boston and Kungsholmen, just to name a few. My daughter currently lives in the heart of Copenhagen, on the 5th floor. She loves it. The building was constructed in the late 1700’s. It's time for San Luis Obispo to build for our children’s future. Sincerely, Michael Boudreau SLO Resident 1009 Morro Street, Suite 205 San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (805)549-0400 office (805)550-4665 cell 1
