Subject:ITEM 5: Clean Energy Choice for New Buildings - SUPPORT
Honorable Mayor and City Council,
The SLO Climate Coalition wholeheartedly supports the second reading and adoption of the Clean Energy Choice Program for New
Buildings within the City of San Luis Obispo.
We want to thank city staff for their work producing a thoughtful and balanced policy, and for listening and responding to community
input as well as successfully addressing previous considerations and concerns of council members. It is encouraging and exciting
knowing our city council held strong to the commitments of the city’s Climate Action Plan even while encountering bullying from the
fossil fuel industry.
Though just one of many needed actions to create a vibrant, just, and climate-resilient future for our community, this program ensures
that those choosing to construct, live, and work within new homes and buildings following the guidelines of the Clean Energy Choice
Program for New Buildings will be living and working in clean, healthy, and affordable homes and buildings.
We look forward to helping continue the much needed work towards achieving San Luis Obispo’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2035.
Thank you.
Eric
