Dear Members of the Planning Commission,
We are looking forward to presenting our project at 1144 Chorro Street to you tonight in the virtual hearing.
I wanted to clarify a few things regarding the affordability of the units in the project, and some incorrect information
that was represented in one of the correspondence letters sent to your commission.
In that letter, the author represents that the rental rates for the “units will range between $1,441 to $2,134 per month”
based on moderate income. This is incorrect. The 2019 City of San Luis Obispo Table 2 Affordability Housing Standards
limit the monthly rents for moderate income households to between $1,276 and $1,641.
Furthermore the author states that the unit sizes will “range in size between 318 and 329 sq. ft.” This is also incorrect.
The author assumes that only the smallest of the units will be provided as affordable. This is not the case, and in fact the
units will be mixed throughout the total project and range in size between an average of 380 sf (studio), 464 sf (1
bedroom), and 660 sf (2 bedrooms).
If only studios were offered as affordable units, as represented by that author, the rental rates would be restricted to a
maximum of $1,276, however the 13 affordable units offered within the project will be a mix of all the unit types.
