Subject:Tree Committee - 1144 Chorro Street Trees
Dear Tree Committee. I have taken a look at the four street trees for the project and
see no reason to cut them down. They are healthy specimens and add benefit to the
local environment by doing all the good things trees do and add beauty to the
immediate area. Street Trees are just that - trees planted near the streets in town. Not
up out of sight on a third-floor terrace for only the inhabitants and workers' personal
enjoyment. If they want to do that fine and encouraged, but do not count them as
replacement trees.
The whole project wanting to put up a 75-foot building in the middle of our village also
doesn't make sense because of the height or cramming a bunch of people in a building
in these pandemic times. I know that is not a matter that you have much say, but the
street trees are your responsibility and they should stay, and if not, don't fall for the
push for the replacement trees be planted on a rooftop. Thank you,
John Salisbury
