MAYOR
City of San Luis Obispo
SANDRA MARSHALL-EMINGER Age: 68
Occupation: Environmental Nonprofit Director
Education and Qualifications: I moved to San Luis Obispo in 1974. During my time here, I
have been employed by the County of San Luis Obispo, Coastal Computers and Cal Poly. I was
the owner and publisher of the Information Press, a free progressive paper from 1991 to 2017
and hosted the Information Press Hour radio show from 1993 to 1998. Since 1996 I have
volunteered my time as the Director of the Earth Day Alliance and coordinated an annual free
Earth Day Fair for residents and visitors to SLO County.
I am running for Mayor to ensure that all citizens of San Luis Obispo are represented equally
and have a voice in the future of our city. We must continue to address issues of racism,
affordable housing, jobs and wages, transportation, air quality and the growth in Downtown SLO
and the surrounding areas. As a tourist town we must protect and preserve our Downtown
charm, history and architecture, keep building heights reasonable and preserve our mountain
views and blue skies.
I support legal nonviolent citizen actions and will work to ensure the public safety of future
organized actions.
As Mayor, I’ll work to create safe neighborhoods and business environments by preparing for
the long-term duration of the Coronavirus.
