My husband, a career Army officer, and I came to San Luis in 1975 to be assigned to the ROTC department at Cal Poly. Like so many, we decided that this would be a marvelous place to continue to rear our family, so he retired from the Army, after 23 years of service, and worked for the Foundation at the university for several years. We're not wealthy. (I've heard the complaint this this retirement community is for "rich folks.") But we were able to invest in a home in the 70's, and have been careful over the years. I have several friends who needed care in their later years, but husband and wife were separated after 50-60 years because each needed a different level of care. There was no place here in San Luis that could care for their needs and keep couples on the same campus. Villaggio meets the needs of retired individuals with intelligent plans for them to continue stable and productive lives. My own husband died 11 years ago. I know he would want to know that I was able to live out my life with dignity and care in the community we love and have supported for 45 years. Please see the favorable impact this project will have on our unique and wonderful city. Susan E. McKee 3415 Sequoia Dr. San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
