Madam Mayor & Councilmembers,
Please support the final step for the development of the old Copeland's Sports Flagship store to something useful for our
City. A retail and restaurant magnet directly adjacent to a major parking hub, downtown housing with a significant
portion of dedicated deed-restricted low-income housing.
In this time of economic instability due to many factors, it is important that the City support the influx of local jobs this
will create during at after construction. Not to mention the increased tax revenue to the City and County in the form of
all the taxes that a levied on properties, businesses, and transactions.
Knowing that this project will be around to help through this economic downturn while bringing much-needed housing
inventory in addition to lowering the age of our downtown building stock. This will help create a more resilient
community for the next natural disaster due to modern building design and construction methods. We do not want to
end up like Paso in 2003 with crumbling buildings and occupants at risk. This cornerstone project ticks many boxes for
the city, and we should be happy the developer is still pursuing the project in our little slice of heaven. This is a win for
the community at large.
As for those who oppose building heights in the properly zoned downtown core. I ask any of them to stand across Santa
Rosa near the county government center and look eastward toward the brand new SINGLE story Bank of America
building. Guess what you can't see, High School Hill toward reservoir canyon. It's important to remember that
perspective is everything.
Thank you for your time to read this message,
Michael Parolini
