To Whom it may Concern:
I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for the new development project at the corner of Marsh and Chorro
Streets.
The project as envisioned provides for a significant amount of new downtown housing, including a number of low
income units, which supports a primary goal in improving the vitality of downtown. I appreciate the upper level “green-
belt”, a park like terrace that sets back the upper floors, providing a benefit to residents and a less imposing facade from
the street level.
I also appreciate how the corner at Marsh and Chorro is set back with patio dining. I think buildings that encourage
engagement through their design, as this one does, make for a more livable, walkable downtown. The current building
does not provide ways for the public to interact with it.
I understand there may be objections to this project due to its proposed height. I feel those objections are largely
mitigated by the project’s placement between two of the tallest structures in the downtown core. The applicants aim to
minimize the the project’s impact through a substantial set back of the upper floors has been successful, and I’d consider
it a very thoughtful design choice.
I believe this new project does a tremendous job at re-thinking, and revitalizing an under-utilized property in the center
of the downtown core. I strongly hope that you will support it.
Sincerely,
Barry Goyette
