First, to let you know, I am a longtime SLO resident (since 1973). I served on the SLOBC Board as Advocate for eight years. I am on the SLO County BAC for my ninth year, and was Chair for four years. I have ridden my bike to work 2-3 time per week in the past, and have also bike ridden and walked throughout the city. I also drive a car frequently. Regarding the ATP Implementation: The report is very well done, and complete. I agree with most actions identified within it. I have some concerns which I hope you will address, and adjust, where needed. These mostly have to do with convenience and safety, and to completing important connections within the network. They are: Tier 1 Quickbuild Broad St. - Kendall Rd. to Orcutt Rd. Consider including bike lane buffers/protection. Tier 2 Quickbuild Industrial Way - Bullock Lane to Broad Street Should be a protected/buffered lane route. Monterey Street - Santa Rosa St. to Buena Vista Ave. Should be a protected lane route. Tiers 1-3 High priority for key and critical actions by SLO City, SLO County, and landowners, where they apply, for the convenience and safety along the following routes: Orcutt Road from Johnson Ave. to Tank Farm Road Tank Farm Road from Santa Fe to Old Mill Road Prado Road from Broad St. to Dalidio The Broad St./Santa Barbara Corridor Avila Ranch/Buckley Road Levels of Traffic Stress actions Improvements have been made, or are underway, however, it has not been enough due to the constant increasing traffic and user stress in these areas: Tank Farm Road Los Osos Valley Road Orcutt Road 1 Getting the Prado Road project done from South Higuera St. to Broad St. is a project that will help greatly for convenience, safety, and stress relief.
