HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/18/2020 Item 16, Piette From:Alisa Piette < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Downtown building I am against the Building of the 75 foot mixed-use building downtown. Of course we need more affordable housing. But our downtown is becoming way too congested and adding such a highly massive building in the heart of downtown will only create more. There’s already enough businesses hurting or closing from Covid and the building of Hotel SLO & Hotel Cerro didn’t help surrounding business as streets and sidewalks had to be closed for so long. Yes SLO has changed-I’ve been here since 1993 and watched the SLO area evolve and that’s what happens. And absorbing the surrounding areas of SLO for housing is fine if there was more affordable housing included. But that’s a different subject. 75 feet is clearly too tall for our downtown. Stop approving these gigantic buildings- it only causes the community to wonder why the council would approve this when our downtown is hurting already. It appears it’s really only for the construction business not for the people who live here. Alisa Piette Sent from my iPhone 1
