HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/15/2020 Item 9, McKee emailcouncil@slocity.org September 9, 2020 Re: Froom Ranch and Villaggio My family moved to San Luis in 1975, when my husband, a career Army officer, was assigned to oversee Cal Poly’s ROTC program. Like so many, we decided to remain after his retirement from the military to rear our children here. It was a decision we’ve never regretted. He continued working for the Foundation (now Corporation) at Cal Poly for many years. Two of our three children completed their education and settled here with their families as well. I’ve tried to be a contributing member of this community that we love by being active in our church, serving as a CASA (Court-Appointed- Special-Advocate, Voices for Children) for many years, overseeing meals at the Prado center, and celebrating San Luis as an artist. I was very involved in helping my parents, as they aged, and struggled to remain independent and together. I scoured the county for a home for them with no reasonable alternative. Villaggio offers a community where I, unlike my parents, can continue to be a contributing member of San Luis Obispo, and live these sunset years in dignity. I also own two residences in Los Verdes II. A traffic light at the entrance has long been urgent in order for residents to exit safely. While the residents of the Villaggio project will impact the traffic on Los Osos Valley Road only marginally, since this village will contain much of the residents’ needs within its borders, some practical planning needs to be done to mitigate the changes from the proposed building in this area. I support the proposed Villaggio project, and hope that this council will approve it as you provide for traffic flow and plan for a sustainable and supportive future. Susan E.
