Subject:Request for approval of Villaggio and Froom Ranch Specific Plan
Hello Mayor and Counsel Members,
My name is Margaret (Maggie) King. I am a 76 year old widow who has lived in SLO since 1973. I love this community
and have worked in various health care positions, both private and public, all these years. My late husband and I have
been hard working professional people in the community, have volunteered for various local charities, and have raised
children here, all of whom are successful, and most of whom live here with our precious grandchildren. I am writing this
letter to explain who the Villlaggio supporters are, and why I feel that approval of this project is so vital to our community.
We used to be young cool people! We worked hard, rode our bicycles and fought for environmental protection, gave our
youthful energy to improving life here in SLO. Imagine our surprise when we realized that now- even though we're still
cool- we're OLD! When did that happen? So now we are trying to arrange a comfortable retirement and spend our
"golden" (HA) years together in the community we love. We feel like we've earned it. Many of us are still working, most of
us are still very active in community affairs, we have social consciences, and we LOVE SLO! We are not a bunch of "rich
old people!" We're young, idealistic, hard working people whose bodies have played a dirty trick on us. Unfortunately
there is a wide variety of physical and mental challenges we are facing, and currently there is no place that we can go, as
a couple, and have all these needs met. Villaggio is planned to provide all these services at the same place. We want
the opportunity to stay together in a safe, pleasant environment- and WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME.
There is a great deal of building going on in SLO at this time. Multiple developments consist of some low income housing
but, in my opinion, too many homes that are not affordable for the average citizen, and nothing that provides the planned
services of the proposed Villaggio . This project represents many many years of our dreams, plans, hopes and-yes-
financial investment. I urge you to approve it.
Sincerely,
Margaret Malouf King
