Dear City Council Members,
We are Michael and Shirley Ritter. We live at 6550 Avila Valley Drive, SLO. We have been residents
of San Luis Obispo County for 20 years. We love it here and are near our family and many
friends. We have been active financial supporters and Board members of several of our County's
non-profit organizations over the years. As we approach our "elder years", we will need the care and
security that only a proposed community like Villagio can provide in our County. If Villagio does not
become a reality, we will be forced to move away from our family and friends and the area we love so
much.
We are not alone in needing a future home like the Villagio community. Most of the applicants to
Villagio and its investors are residents of SLO County. We all understand the importance of the
availability of on-site care as we age as well as the need for an active, engaged community. As our
elderly population grows, having a facility as Villagio becomes increasingly important to us and our
City and County.
Although the governmental review and approval process has been very time consuming, we are
hopeful that the process can be concluded and actual construction of this important project can
begin soon. We are encouraged by your Planning Commission's unanimous recommendation for
approval of this important project. Unfortunately, further delays could result in our as well as others
needing to move out of the County for the care and community we will need, even if the Villagio
project is ultimately approved.
Thank you in advance for your approval of this very important and essential addition to our City and
County.
Sincerely, Michael and Shirley Ritter (805-595-2693)
