It is heartening to see the recommendation from Michael Codron that you approve the Froom Ranch Specific Plan,
General Plan Amendment, Pre-zoning, Vesting Tentative Tract Map, and Annexation for the Froom Ranch Project. I
speak in particular of the Villaggio Life Plan Community. Like many others who have signed up for Villaggio, I spent a
number of years shepherding my parents into various types of care as they aged. I would like to spare my children the
same job, especially as I want to remain in San Luis Obispo for the rest of my life. Right now, that would involve a
patchwork of care options, and some very good luck.
Villaggio would provide continuing care in the same place for its residents. Most of those who have signed up for
Villaggio are already residents of San Luis Obispo County.
My residence in San Luis Obispo County dates from 1960 - this is my 60th year here. I love it here, support the
community, and want to stay. I'm not alone. Villaggio would be a valuable addition for our senior population and their
families. It would also provide steady employment for many local residents, at a number of skill levels.
You already know how desirable the facility would be. Any issues around its impact on the environment and community
can be negotiated, (many already have been), with positive outcomes for everyone. Thank you for your thoughtful
consideration and hopefully, approval for this important project.
