We are a Planned Unit Development with 87 homes. Our community was built in 1976. This Board and our residents are very concerned about another development being approved without needed infrastructure in place. We are writing to encourage you to delay approval of this project. It is our firm belief that there are not enough completed mitigation’s to address the increased traffic and noise. We have reviewed the EIR and the PRADO ROAD OVERPASS is used frequently as a mitigation measure. This overpass will not occur in any reasonable time frame to alleviate more traffic and noise on the south end of San Luis Obispo. The Avila Ranch project was approved by the SLO City Council which will add 750 new homes to the east of our neighborhood (they are “breaking ground” now). There will be countless new cars, pedestrians, bicycles on our roads leading to safety concerns. The 1 BUCKLEY ROAD EXTENSION (which would help) does not even break ground until Avila Ranch Phase 2 is built out! Right now it is very hard for both Los Verdes Park 1 (across the street from us) and LVP II to exit and turn left due to all the traffic. The traffic currently backs up on 101 off/on ramps at Los Osos Valley Road. On behalf of all our neighbors here in the South End of the City we urge you to not approve this project until proper mitigation measures have been built.
