HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 3 - Determination of Selecting a Chairperson or Alternative StructureCity of San Luis Obispo, Council Memorandum DEI-TF Agenda Correspondence Date: September 24, 2020 TO: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force Members FROM: Dale Magee, DE&I Task Force Coordinator SUBJECT: Item 3 – Determination of selecting a Chairperson or alternative structure. Hello DEI-TF, I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and hearing from our presenters. It will be a productive session. One administrative agenda item is the follow up on the selection of the Chairperson. In the interest of maximizing the time you have for program, we’d like to suggest: 1. IF there is strong interest in NOT having a chairperson, but instead go with the “ad hoc” approach, we’d like to call for that vote at the meeting. 2. IF folks are split or just needing more discussion, we’d like to table this and continue to next week – we’ll add in more time for that. Refresher on the options/roles: 1. Chairperson a. Call meetings to order, call Items b. Call for Public Comment c. Community / Media point person d. Liaison to City Council 2. Ad Hoc approach: Community/Media interface and representation to City Council would be determined case by case. The TF member best suited (and available) would be tapped for the request or presentation. (Call to order, public comment, etc. could continue with me or Beya – if acceptable to you) Hope that makes sense and helps us jump into this item. Thank you, Dale Dale Magee DE&I Task Force, Coordinator DEI-TF Agenda Correspondence Page 2 Organization of the Future, Project Facilitator City Administration 990 Palm, San Luis Obispo, 93401-3249 805-781-7114 E dmagee@slocity.org slocity.org
