For over 60 years, the United Way of SLO County has been actively working to support our community through programs that focus on education, health, financial stability, and community strengthening. They have done this by focusing on root causes and structural change. The United Way of SLO county is unparalleled in the depth, breadth, and reach of their community support. The recently launched Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative makes explicit their organizational commitment to the ongoing work of dismantling structural inequality. As a recipient of a COVID-19 mini grant, we are grateful for the United Way’s assistance as we respond to increased need as a result of the global Coronavirus pandemic. We are one of 13 local organizations that received more than $25,000 in grant funding. In our 45 years of serving San Luis Obispo County, we have focused on transforming the lives of sexual and intimate partner violence survivors, their families and the community through services and education that promote safety, healing and empowerment. Support from the United Way of SLO County has allowed us to meet the growing needs of our community in these challenging and uncertain times. We ask that you consider granting the full funding request of the United Way of SLO County so that organizations like ours can continue to meet the needs of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/ abuse survivors in our community. Thank you for taking into consideration our organization’s support. Appreciatively, Jane Pomeroy, Executive Director RISE San Luis Obispo County
