HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/17/2020 Item 11, Keinow Wilbanks, Megan From:Ken Kienow < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Please prohibit all automobile travel in the city before closing night hiking/biking in city open space. No, not really. But my email subject is intended to show that auto travel (noise pollution, light pollution, water/air pollution, prohibiting wildlife movement, roadkill, and fire risk) is far more detrimental to our local wildlife than the few hikers/bikers that use our open space in the evenings. Those of us who work and have families often can't get outdoors in winter months unless it's at night. Nearly all of my exercise right now is after the sun goes down, because I work and have family duties before sunset. If I can't enjoy our open space after sunset, I can't enjoy it at all unless it's on a weekend. Our city is surrounded by vast open spaces (Los Padres National Forest, etc.). A passing hiker/biker cannot create nearly as much impact as other impacts we allow (like night driving near open spaces). Please let us exercise outdoors after sunset by keeping our city open spaces open in the evenings. Ken Kienow 1
