Subject:Item #11 on agenda concerning Nighttime Access to open spaces
Honorable Lady Mayoress and Members of the City Council:
You will be discussing and voting upon Item #11, and I join the voices that demand a full and transparent public hearing
on this important matter, important to the public´s relationship to nature, to the protection of the dwindling flora and
fauna in our open spaces, and important in the normal discourse of the City Council´s protocol.
When the proposal was first put forth, there were assurances of a specific vote, a consultant´s environmental report,
and the opportunity to evaluate the trial period before any permanent or extended access was granted.
Remember Kipling´s night hour descent creed: ¨This is the hour, Of our power, Talon and tooth and claw, Oh hear the
call, ¨Good hunting all, That keep the jungle law¨.
Let us give full respect to the quiet night hours of our Open Spaces, when they have their time without our insistence
upon intruding into it.
Further, JLan Marx will surely want to be part of that discussion, since the Open Spaces is a ;cherished commitment of
hers.
