Dear SLO Active Transportation Committee,
I am writing as a concerned citizen of San Luis Obispo regarding the proposed changes to the bike path connections from
Avila to San Luis Obispo. I am a long time resident (over 35 years) and have seen the hard work and dedication given to
wonderful progress of a dedicated bike path throughout the distance between the Bob Jones and now almost connected
to the city of SLO. Please do not give up on the effort to dedicate the path entirely to pedestrian and bike path travel by
using cycle tracks as a last means of connecting the path. The result will be a path that puts cyclists and path users next
to traffic (which continues to grow as the city expands and tourist visit), and across driveways. We are so close to give
up at this point with cycle tracks instead of a dedicated path. What a gift you could give to the resisidents and
visitors/tourists to have a car free safe path to enjoy for miles instead of right at the end using and easy fix cycle track
choice. I encourage you to hang in there and work with the involved parties to find ways to finished the very small last
segments that would result in an ultimately better choice for all the path users now and in the future. What a
tremendous gift it would be to do this the right way.
Thank you for your time and attention. I hope you choose the higher ‘path’ .
Sincerely,
Michelle Israel
