Purrington, Teresa From:Brian Finger <brianlfinger@gmail.com> Sent:Saturday, November 28, 2020 8:30 AM To:Advisory Bodies Subject:ATC Communication I am a long time SLO resident. I have been riding my bike to commute and for fun since I was in junior high at Laguna Middle School, and now I commute to Cal Poly. I was just recently told about the cities long term bike plan and I was quite frustrated. I heard the main plan was to put cycle tracks on the main roads, and that this would make the roads feel completely safe, or stress level 1. I think this is completely wrong and they still have a lot of dangers. I have come close to accidents in bike lanes, and protected bike lanes because cars don’t care about cyclist. They routinely pull out into the bike lanes without looking to see oncoming traffic, and protected bike lanes will not stop this. Class 1 trails like the Bob jones trail do make cyclists feel completely safe. SLO already has the infrastructure and groundwork laid for class 1 trails to be connected around the city. How are we not doing that first. I Hope that the advisory board considers connecting the trails that make bicyclist feel the safest, and provides the most value to San Luis Obispo residents. If you would like to hear more of my perspective as a young resident of SLO please feel free to email me or give me a call. I can provide my phone number if emailed. Sincerely, Brian Finger 1
