As a life-long bicycle commuter, I’ve always considered my choice to bicycle as a risky option that I take because of the happiness it brings me. I know that many people choose not to bicycle for fear of being hit by a car and killed… the fate of many of our bicycle community. We shouldn’t have to choose between safety and bicycling. I look forward to seeing protected bike lanes as a main priority of this plan. I support this list of Tier 1 projects to encourage more ridership which will be crucial to meeting our climate action, mode shift, vision zero, equity, diversity, and inclusivity goals. In order to create this positive and healthy transition away from single occupant vehicle use, we must ensure that people can access their homes, jobs, schools, social engagements, and other daily necessities safely and comfortably by bike or walking. I encourage you to support the plan's implantation approach. Thank you, Pete Pete Schwartz Cal Poly Physics, Sustainability the new science building, 180-608 Cell: 805-748-6341 (if I don’t have your number, please text me first) pschwart@calpoly.edu Can the pandemic inform us how to prepare for the “new normal” on the other side of Covid-19?
