Subject: ATC Meeting November 30, 2020
I’m writing to express my concern for this plan. Instead of connecting the gaps between our existing class I paths, it
proposes to instead install cycle tracks along arterials. This will lead to many turning conflicts between cars and bicycles
when the bollards disappear for driveways, which WILL result in increased crashes and injuries. I live behind Meadow
Park and don’t like to ride the arterials. I ride the Morro bike blvd via Chorro instead of Santa Barbara; biking is my
preferred way to get downtown. I have attached a map of a simple solution to connect the Meadow Park neighborhood
to the Morro bike blvd. I want the Bob Jones Trail connection to be built to the Octagon Barn, which will be a crucial link
to Avila and Five Cities. And there are cyclists that use the Bridge st path all the time instead of South st. with its fast
moving traffic. As a Cal Poly City & Regional Planning graduate, this plan does not contain best practices. It should focus
on building out our class 1 path network and using low stress, low speed, bike boulevard neighborhood streets to
connect the rest of the city.
Sincerely,
Kyle Finger
