Subject:SLO ATP Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans
Dear Advisory Board Members and SLO City Council Members,
Please do not move too hastily in approving the plans for Tiers 2 & 3 of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan. I
see a number of problems with the construct, implementation and astronomical costs. The draft is incomplete and
confusing. For example, where I reside is shown as a disadvantaged community, yet also one of the highest median
households. The "statistically significant" response rate does not appear to reflect my, or my neighbors hopes for the
future of transportation.
I whole-heartedly want the issue of unsafe drivers to be addressed. The main thoroughfares should have designated
bicycle lanes and enforced speed limits. You have done well by designating Johnson Ave. for a Protected Bicycle
Lane. However, the usage potential of neighboring/parallel streets is unnecessary (For example, Flora St.'s
"Greenway"). Please utilize speed-bumps for slowing neighborhood traffic.
I own a home in the Central Zone/Southeast Zone and have more issues to be brought to your attention when time
allows. Feel free to contact me as necessary (805) 801-9560.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Davis
