Subject:Active Transportation Plan
Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
Thank you for all the hard work and determination you, the Planning Commission and the Active Transportation
Committee have devoted to the development of the Active Transportation Plan.
I am fully in support of achieving significantly increased and safe ridership thereby achieving a 20% mode share, vision
zero, inclusivity and equity.
As an avid cyclist, an amputee and a senior, I am acutely aware of the need for our community to meet these important
goals. In order to achieve this we need safe, and wherever possible actual protected, bikeways. In addition we also
clearly require connected bikeways so that it is safe to actually ride throughout the city. From what I can discern there
are at least 12 places where there is a lack of connection that surely will discourage riders from traveling throughout our
community or from choosing to ride at all.
I would like to encourage you to please consider placing that serious need for connectivity in the list of Tier 1 projects
and to plan to make this sorely needed connectivity as a top priority.
