Subject:Active Transportation Plan
Dear City Council,
I send this email in support of the Active Transportation Plan as recommended by the Active Transportation Committee.
By investing in multi-modal transportation and alternatives to vehicle trips, improved infrastructure will help increase
the number of residents who feel safe riding their bikes. This helps toward the goal of reduced carbon emissions and
reduced vehicle congestion. Having visited other cities with robust bike infrastructure, I can envision SLO having that
same type of feel. With relatively flat City topography, it will allow and encourage people of all ages to use different
means of transportation, which will lead to better physical and mental health for residents aside from other benefits.
I believe the Tier 1 projects should be considered in the FY21-23 budget cycle so we can start to see real progress in
support of active transportation in our city.
