I want to thank you for recommending that the residents of the multi-family units on the street be surveyed and considered for inclusion in the Parking District. I have lived in the town homes at 415 Dana Street (by the dead end) for 10 years. We are an 8 unit complex with garage parking for residents and 3 guest spots. Exclusion from the district could mean that on holidays or weekends when multiple units have guests visiting for more than 2 hours that our guests could potentially have to park in a parking structure... the closest being 1/2 mile away on Palm Street. This seems unfair and unreasonable for me, my neighbors, and the other residents of multifamily units on the street. Most of the single family residents have 4+ parking spots in their driveways and would still be eligible for permits for additional street parking. I know that developers are responsible for ensuring adequate parking or obtaining exceptions when multi-family complexes are designed, permitted, and approved, but all the units on Dana were all built when our population and the cost of housing were significantly lower, and the occupancy ratios were also lower. The Parking District should serve the residents of Dana Street as the need exists now and be designed around outdated zoning and parking rules. Thank you, ~Bryn Smith 805.704.2690 1
