Subject:Protecting open space
Dear Mayor Harmon and Members of the City Council, I am writing to voice my support for the preservation and
maintenance of our Open Spaces and Preserves. These natural areas are vitally important to our community and to the
wildlife they harbor. My family has always enjoyed hiking on the morros, Terrace Hill, Irish Hills, South Hills and Boden
Ranch. These areas have become even more important to us during the Covid-19 pandemic and have provided unique
spaces to foster mental and physical health. My friends who live in other cities are so jealous of our easily accessible
outdoor opportunities. Our community is so lucky that past City Councils had the foresight to preserve these areas. It is
important that we continue to protect them and to add to them even during times of tight budgets as natural areas will
be just as important to future residents of our City.
