Bars Rounders Sports Bar and Grill / the 507, Mankato, Minnesota 6/14/2020 outbreak with over 100 cases reported in the Star Tribune. confirmed at Tigerland Bar District, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 6/19/2020 Louisiana Department of Health least 100 cases in the outbreak. Cowboy Jack’s and Kollege Klub in Dinkeytown, Minnesota 6/21/2020 outbreak with 30 cases reported in the Star Tribune. The Louisiana Department of Health reports 36 outbreaks at bars, resulting in 393 cases. “Adults with confirmed COVID-19 (case-patients) were approximately twice as likely as were control- participants to have reported dining at a restaurant in the 14 days before becoming ill." –MMWR, 9/11/20 Five outbreaks in Pacific Beach, Calif., bars were linked to 110 infections. Child Care The Louisiana Department of Health reports 7 outbreaks at child care, resulting in 17 cases. Twelve children acquired COVID-19 in two childcare facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah, April-July 2020. Transmission was documented from these children to at least 12 (26%) of 46 nonfacility contacts (confirmed or probable cases). One parent was hospitalized. Gyms and Fitness Centers The Louisiana Department of Health reports 3 outbreaks resulting in 26 cases. “The Gym” in Pacific Beach, Calif. – LA Times 7/31/2020 During 24 days in Cheonan, South Korea, 112 persons were infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 associated with fitness dance classes at 12 sports facilities. Emerging Infectious Diseases, 8/26/20 SpinCo in Hamilton, Ont., had 71 cases, CBC, 10/16/20 Platinum Athletic Club in Surrey, B.C., had 42 cases connected to it. CBC, 11/13/20 Gyms on the Channel Island of Jersey were closed after more than 20 outbreaks in them in November. ITV, 12/8/20 The Minnesota Department of Health on 12/11/20 released a list of every health and fitness club and gym that has met its seven-case threshold for a coronavirus outbreak.They stretch from an outbreak of at least 23 known cases in the Rochester Athletic Club to one of at least 12 known cases at a Life Time in White Bear Lake. Shasta County Public Health9/22/20 Watsonville, Calif., had an outbreak at a post-acute center with 47 cases and 9 deaths, Santa Cruz County Department of Health, 10/7/20 Santa Maria Post Acute Care, Santa Maria, Calif., had 41 residents and 23 health-care workers become infected, with one death. Santa Barbara Independent, 10/12/20 Twelve residents at Gilroy (Calif.) Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing home, have died from COVID-19, and 75 have tested positive for the disease, CapRadio.org, 10/17/20 At least 63 residents tested positive at St. Claire’s Nursing Center, South Sacramento, Calif., as did 39 employees. Friendship Haven, a nursing home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, had 12 staff members and 14 residents recently test positive. NBC News, 11/24/20 Jewish Senior Services, a nursing home in Bridgeport, Conn., had 22 residents die from Covid-19 during the spring; about 10 percent of the staff became infected. The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill moved classes online after only one week of in-person instruction when 130 students and 5 employees tested positive for coronavirus – NPR 8/18/2020 The University of Notre Dame reported 58 confirmed cases in the first two weeks of its school year - LA Times 8/18/2020 The New York Times built a database of campus outbreaks. Smithfield in Vernon, Calif., reported 241 cases and 3 death to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. American Meat Companies in Pico Rivera, Calif., reported 30 cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Foster Farms plant in Livingston, Calif., shut down after at least 358 tested positive. Santa Rosa Press- Democrat, 8/28/20 Foster Farms had an outbreak at two of its plants in Fresno County, Calif. Parties Berkeley, California in July, 2020 University Health Systems reported 47 cases associated with fraternity parties according to the LA Times7/9/20 The University of Southern California reports at least 40 people infected on its fraternity row –L.A. Times, 7/30/20 A couple traveling in Ireland attended a house party resulting in six to eight cases, and cases in three to four households. On the second day of their trip, they went with friends to a town center, resulting in four more cases. The pair attended a bar, where six people at an adjacent table, and four staff, tested positive. They then went on to a “drinks venue”, where four more cases occurred. Mammoth Lakes, California July, 2020 – 84 cases (65% of them associated with restaurants) resulted in Mono County being placed on the County Monitoring List. Reported by the LA Times 7/24/2020. Turbo Wholesale Tires, Irwindale, Calif., reported 42 cases and 6 deaths to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Vicente Foods in Los Angeles reported 30 cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. A Walgreens in Los Angeles reported 15 cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Sports A hockey game at a Tampa Bay, Fla., indoor ice rink resulted in 15 cases. MMWR, Oct. 16, 2020 A high school basketball tournament in Rocklin, Calif., resulted in more than two dozen cases. KCRA TV, 11/26/20 Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley, Calif., had multiple cases with 540 employees likely to have been , 12/11/20. exposed. SF Chronicle Strip Clubs Cruisin’ Chubbys Gentlemen’s Club, Wisconsin Dells, Wisc., reported by The New York Times 6/22/2020 Transportation BYD Coach and Bus in Lancaster, Calif., reported 18 cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. California Cartage, Carson, Calif., reported 18 cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Weddings The Louisiana Department of Health reports 7 outbreaks resulting in 31 cases. In March in Jordan, the father of the bride passed the virus on to 76 of the 360 guests. One died. Science Mag10/30/2020 San Francisco, California, June, 2020 a 100-person wedding resulted in the newlyweds testing positive as well as at least eight guests from multiple states.
