Public Health After a long year of Public Health issues, I think the City should prioritize this issue. COVID work closely with and help sponsor vaccination for all resident in a speedy manner. On the COVID issue, be firm on business closures, including fines and license revocation, especially repeat offenders. Air Quality Work with Public Health, Air Quality District, Fire Departmentt and Medical professionals to greatly reduce air pollution and the associated public health issues with wood/charcoal fires; grilling, farmer’s market, wood burning fireplaces, backyard fire pits, etc. A good start would be no burn days. Have measurable objectives. We do not need any more bad air days, remember the wildfire smoke this last year? Also , include leaf blowers in the issue to improve air quality. Leaf blowers are noisy, gas ones produce lots of emissions and then of course the allergens dispensed by them. Especially work to greatly reduce PM2.5 air pollution. This does tie into climate action. The City can do this - remember the City closed down smoking years ago. 2. Open Space Protect and maintain our valuable Open Space. Aggressively acquire more Open Space, especially in the south part of the City. Follow the Greenbelt plan. Areas in Williamson Act are not long term protection, one of the goals should be legal and effective Conservation Easements for all City Open Space. Reenforce that the Open Space Program is a Natural Resource Program with non degrading passive recreation a permitted but not required activity. This COVID period has truly shown the public’s value of Open Space. Sincerely, Don Dollar SLO dddollar@yahoo.com 1
