Thank you, Sherri Danoff 1 January 14, 2021 SLO City Council emailcouncil@slocity.org SUBJECT: CITY GOALS SETTING FORUM Dear Council Members, Protect Scenic 101 encourages prioritizing OPEN SPACE WITHOUT BILLBOARDS for Highway 101 entries to the City, consistent with the General Plan Conservation and Open Space Element (9.3.11 Billboard Removal). As Councilmember Marx points out in a recent New Times article, protection of open space viewsheds is increasingly important for mental well -being as urban development and population increase. In that benefits of long-term open space viewshed protection are greatly diminished by intrusive billboards, PS101 encourages directing staff to seek conservation easements which involve billboard removal -- for restoring and protecting scenic viewshed resources. We’ll appreciate consideration of our suggestion. Sincerely, Sherri Danoff, Coordinator
