And Pickleball is a proven, cost- effective program to do just that - keep us old guys and gals moving and healthy in our advanced years. The saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” has been replaced with “a game or two of Pickleball a day keeps the doctor away”. LOL! But it’s true. You build it.....and they will come. Look at the explosion in the number of Pickleball players that occurred after the permanent courts were installed at French Park. The Mitchell Park Pickleball courts will be in a different part of the City, to serve locals who live in and around that neighborhood, and guests. Pickleball is easy to learn, requires little player investment in equipment, and is about the most fun you can have after our knees and hips and shoulders are shot from our youth. That’s why Pickleball is such a draw for the Executive Teenagers set (aka Seniors, aka Baby Boomers). It’s social, not too physical, and it provides a social outing, tons of laughter but most importantly it keeps us moving!!!! My hat is off to the City of San Luis Obispo for it’s foresight in planning additional Pickleball venues within our city. After all, what city has more sunny days than SLO on the Central Coast! It’s like adult recess! Let’s get outdoors. Let’s keep moving. Let’s have some fun, laughter and be social. Let’s play Pickleball! Thank you, Betsy Asmus Sent from Betsy's iPad.
