I am pleased To hear that the city of SLO is finally coming around to the idea of more pickleball courts! Right now at French park the three courts are not adequate for the demand that exists. Although I am excited to have any amount of courts built - I do think 2 Courts at Mitchell would not be enough or a choice location given the way pickleball happens. If there is any way that you could consider a more adequate venue -more opportunity for more than just 2 courts - I really think in the interest of the city and for future planning this would be wise. Mitchell is two small and too close to downtown. Parking would be an issue. There also seems to be a fair amount of homeless people there at the moment. There are several other parks that would be better options. I feel it is important to have minimum 4 courts together. If you are going to spend the money to build the courts, I hope you consider it doing it right. Right now the French courts are challenging to play on with all the trees casting shadows everywhere and a fair amount of tree debris falling everywhere onto the courts. A wide open area would be great with windscreens. Pickleball has been a huge part of my life for the last couple of years and has brought much joy and connections. I am able to play with so many people I would have never met before as well as get my family out and play with my kids and husband. It encourages outdoor activity while strengthening social connections - young and old! During a time when the pandemic has been so stressful- it has brought much joy and comfort. Thank you for your consideration and for giving us the opportunity to voice our opinions. Best, Helen Zeeb 805-441-2666 Sent from my iPhone 1
