Subject:Bike Lane along Oceanaire Drive
Hello,
My name is Reed Hooke, and I am a resident of the Windermere complex along Oceanaire Drive. While I see the value of
bike lanes in our community, I do not think it necessary or beneficial to the community to add one along the
Windermere side of Oceanaire between LOVR and Galleon Way. That section of road is often used for parking for
residents and guests of the Windermere complex, as there are not enough spaces within the complex for every vehicle.
On any given day, you will see multiple cars parked there, and the space is often full. Creating this bike lane will mean
there may not be enough parking for residents by their own homes. This would back up parking all along Oceanaire and
also cause residents and guests to feel unsafe walking to and from their homes at night. In addition to this, I believe that
stretch of road to be safe enough for cyclists to share the road with motorists. As someone who often walks down this
road, I know that it is not a busy road, just like most residential areas. The addition of this bike lane would not add safety
to the cyclists but simply cause frustration to the residents of the Windermere Complex and their neighbors.
Thank you,
Reed Hooke
