Subject:Oceanaire Drive Bike Lane
Dear SLO City Council,
First I want to express my appreciation for your dedication and work with improved residential life in San Luis Obispo in
mind.
It came to my notice that the SLO City Council will be considering the removal of all the parking spots along the
Windermere Complex side of Oceanaire Drive, in order to construct a bike lane. I would like to express my concerns
about how this will impact residents, visitors and contractors who park their vehicles along that same side of Oceanaire
Drive. There are big families that live on this street. From my experience, I live with three housemates and we all own a
car. However, we are only allowed one parking spot in the Windermere complex. Therefore, for residents who do not
have driveways and may have visitors, they must park on the streets.
Also if there is going to be a bike lane where street parking spots are in an attempt to make it safer for bicyclists, trash
day is not going to be a safe day for them as residents place their trash cans along that side anyways and the pick up
trucks will be blocking the lane.
Please consider changing this plan to an alternative biking solution. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Valeri To
