HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/4/2021 Item 2, Drayer From:John Paul Drayer < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Please revoke the Business License of the Kennedy Club Gym in SLO City for violating health orders Dear Mayor & Council, 2 members of my step-family have already died of COVID-19. So I feel strongly that COVID-19 Business workplace and patron safety is key to stopping the virus. Please revoke the Business license of the Kennedy Club Gym for violating health laws for continuing to have unsafe indoor gym activities (according to this week’s New Times), that endanger worker and patron health & avoid city legal liability for allowing such greedy & unhealthy businesses in SLO City to continue. The City is the taxpayer protector against such evil businesses that would rather kill off & injury their customers in the name of the almighty dollar, than follow corrective action to have an outdoor gym in the parking lot that will save lives and keep hospital & ICU beds available in the public health and interest. Please immediately in emergency urgent council action revoke the Kennedy Club Business License and the licenses of any other business that willfully violate the state & county Covid-19 health code. Maybe patrons and employees sign a waiver they would not sue Kennedy if they get Covid-19, but do they sign a waiver not to sue the city or their family members to not sue the city in a wrongful death class action suit for allowing a dangerous business to keep their business license & stay open? Not doing anything endangers the city fiscally, with wide legal liability exposure to multiple lawsuits in the event of Covid-19 death and long term illnesses. Sincerely, John Paul Drayer Former Kennedy Club Gym & Swim patron 1
