Subject:SLO City Goals
Dear Mayor Harmon and Council Members,
I want to express my support for adopting Climate Action, DEI, Housing, and Open-Space as major city goals.
Active transportation is important to me and I believe these goals require a substantial investment in active
transportation infrastructure. The Climate Action Plan relies on active transportation to reduce carbon
emissions. DEI would benefit from protected bike lanes and safer sidewalks as an equitable way for people
without vehicles to travel safely. Housing is important because we cannot expect people to bike and walk to
their work/school/places of interest if they cannot afford to live near those places. Additionally, expansion and
protection of open spaces is critical for the health and happiness of residents, as well as the area’s unique
flora and fauna.
After adopting these major goals, I want to see the ATP Tier 1 projects considered in the FY21-23 budget cycle
without delay so that we can start to see real progress in support of active transportation in our city.
