I support active transportation and see it as a substantial component of accomplishing these goals. Active transportation is a huge part of the climate action plan to meet our carbon emission goals by replacing single occupancy vehicle trips with biking and walking. Active transportation infrastructure such as protected bike lanes provides equitable transportation for those who cannot afford to own a personal vehicle. Bike SLO County recently gave a bike through our RideWell program to a single mother whose vehicle broke down. She could not afford to fix it and depended on it to get to work. She now depends on a bike to get to work to support her family. She deserves safe and equitable infrastructure to get to and from her place of employment that every vehicle owner enjoys. Affordable housing options close to grocery and job destinations are necessary if we expect people to bike and walk. When these goals are adopted it will be imperative to aggressively fund the Tier 1 projects in the ATP in the 21-23 budget cycle to provide safe infrastructure for people who bike and walk. Thank you for your consideration, Jesse Englert Chorro St, San Luis Obispo Bike SLO County - Board Member SLO Streets For All - Steering Committee Member 1
