Thank you! Patty Smith Grants Manager 1 P.O. We are very honored to be included among the organizations recognized by City Council as effective in helping to combat homelessness in our community. Due to the particularities of this grant, we would greatly appreciate it if the City of San Luis Obispo could increase our allocation by $500. This grant requires a $8,000 threshold of funds, and with allocations from three cities in the county we are at $7,5000. We may only receive the grant funds if we can somehow reach $8,000. We are first-time applicants for this grant. We requested $2,500 increments from each city in the County, and did not quite grasp the consequence of the totality of awards. Also, we were reluctant to ask any one city, or the County, to award the entire $8,000. Even with COVID’s limits on personal activities, we have continued training new volunteers who help the county’s most vulnerable children. Right now, we have 151 volunteers providing (virtual and COVID-aware) one-on-one assistance to 193 children. With the help of a CASA volunteer, children teetering between homelessness and stability receive a motivated, dedicated adult who helps them assure access to healthcare, education, and suitable housing—the proven keys to eliminating homelessness. Thank you for your assistance and support. Patty Smith Grants Manager
