Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
With the recent conclusion of the Open Space Winter Evening Hours of Use Pilot Program, p lease consider the
following:
As cited in our city's Municipal code, Open Space is set aside primarily for conservation
A secondary use is passive recreation, such as hiking.
Conservation includes the land, animals and plants of the Open Space.
Wildlife is very active at dusk and dawn; it's necessary for their survival.
As our city has expanded, we have maintained our responsibility as stewards of the land and wildlife. Please
support these environmental values and limit the hours of hiking and other passive recreational uses of our
Open Space to one hour before sunrise and concluding one hour after sunset.
