(Item 12) The reason I love living in this town - despite the fact that I can't afford a real house on a Professor salary - is the culture of outdoorsyness and of socializing on weeknights. There's nowhere else I've lived where you can just pop over 5 minutes away to a beautiful hike with friends. I can get very lonely and cooped up in the Winter, when I get home around sunset and don't have time to make it to a hike before they close. The extended hours were such a blessing, since they let me still get in a weekday hike or ride semi-regularly. This seems like such an easy win for our city. Cerro San Luis is a region where the environment is already heavily impacted by the truck-sized road to the top; a few more pedestrians a day is negligible in comparison. It is also a path that doesn't pass by residential areas, which avoids concerns about noise and/or crime. In exchange for a few extra hours in the Winter, we get an enormous public health and wellbeing benefit, especially for those who can't afford other exercise options like gyms or sports. Please do the right thing and vote to preserve this program! Thank you for your time, Kelly -- Dr. Kelly N.
