Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. I want to thank Andy, Erica, and Heidi for taking a very reasonable approach to the open space use issue last night. I also want to express my deepest disappointment in councilmember Marx's rude and over generalized statements about those of us who apparently "want to do whatever we want" and "mostly work at Cal Poly". I have heard similar comments from councilmember Marx in the past that shows that she has a hard time empathizing and understanding the struggles of those trying to work, raise a family, use alternative modes of transportation, all while trying to be good environmental stewards. I frankly find it offensive that councilmember Marx thinks so low of many of us who actually volunteer our time to build and maintain trails here in SLO. I honestly do not care about councilmember Marx's opposition to night hiking, but I am more concerned with the way she over generalized about who we are. I would like to remind council member Marx that we are community members too. I do not work at Cal Poly, I am a business owner that has to work in the middle of the day, I am a father who wants my son to feel a deep gratitude and respect for nature and the environment. I hope councilmember Marx will take this opportunity to look inwards and reflect, because your words matter and they tell a story of what you think of people like me.
