Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Hello Planning Commissioners: I tuned in to the Planning Commission meeting for Item 2, 3985 Broad Street, and intended to speak during the public comment period. For reasons I can't explain, the hand and other icons disappeared when the applicant's representative gave her presentation and did not reappear and I was not able to signal that I wanted to speak or submit written comments. I have been able to speak during other city meetings, so don't know what technically happened. So this is what I intended to say: I have been following the three developments on the northwest corner of Broad Street and Tank Farm Road. I am pleased with the bicycle and pedestrian improvements planned at 3985 Broad Street and connectivity among the three projects. I appreciated Commissioner Shoresman's questions about bicycle parking and showers for bicycle commuters and the representative's clarification because I had the same questions. I wanted to reiterate the need for protected bike lanes on Tank Farm Road and/or a pathway through the Chevron property between Higuera and Broad streets. The bicycle and pedestrian improvements at the west end of Tank Farm Road in the City limits and those associated with this and the other two projects at Tank/Broad, including the most westerly one undergoing environmental review, are much needed and appreciated. But until the Chevron property is developed, the substandard shoulders in the unincorporated area will continue to be a major barrier to people on bicycles who do not feel safe and there are no pedestrian facilities even though I frequently see pedestrians out there. Closing this gap between the neighborhoods and businesses in the vicinity of Higuera and Broad streets is vital in achieving the City's 20 percent trips-by-bike goal and the Climate Action Plan. I was hoping Luke Schwartz would provide an update and time line on any interim plans the City has to close this gap. Thank you. Lea Brooks San Luis Obispo resident 1
