To whom it may concern:
We are writing to you regarding our concerns about the Ash tree located at the above address. The owner of the
property, Betty Aten submitted a request to have the tree removed and her request was denied. My husband and I own
the property right next door. We are very concerned about this tree for the following reasons:
1. This tree has not been maintained as it should be and even if it had been, the tree is so large and so close to our
duplex that we have had several large branches fall not only into our yard, but onto our roof as well, causing damage to
our property. This will continue as long as the tree is in place.
2. Our current tenants and former tenants are and have been extremely concerned for their safety and with good
reason. We are concerned about this as well. There is potential for great bodily injury if a large branch/branches falls
on them while they are outside, or inside, if it goes through the roof. We are first and foremost concerned for their
safety. However, we are also concerned for the liability if someone is hurt due to branches falling off the tree.
3. The tree is too large to be that close to a structure of any sort, let alone a residence. The roots from the tree have
damaged the fence and roots are also coming up all over our backyard. This poses a tripping hazard. In addition to this,
the tree is still growing and we are concerned it is going to damage our foundation. We need to put up a new fence, but
before we do, this tree needs to be removed. We do not want to put up a new fence and then have it destroyed by the
growing roots.
Please consider our request, along with the owners request, to have this tree removed.
If you should need further information or have any questions, please feel free to call or email. Thank you so much for
your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Bart and Stephanie Schwan
