Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Hello council members, I know change can take time, and I know you are working on measures to address our unhoused population. In the meantime, please don't make it harder for them to live by taking their possessions away through police raids and no tent policies. I recognize that you probably get complaints from SLO citizens about homeless in the parks and their tents, but there's not enough resources for them, and they need to sleep somewhere. I have heard that even with 40 Prado and ECHO as shelters, they don't cover a wide swath of unhoused people and these shelters are further away, more inaccessible to folks who have little mobility. Carts help unhoused carry their possessions, so criminalizing their usage seems counterintuitive to helping them get around, and incurring fines on using carts criminalizes poverty. You've all probably heard this before, and I appreciate the council's willingness to engage with public concern. Please keep thinking long term measures, such as more affordable housing, and try to listen to the needs of the unhoused. Thank you for your time, Mae Blonski 1
