Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Council Members, As a resident of SLO, I am strongly opposed to clear cutting 71 gorgeous mature trees to make room for MORE development. There are a number of reasons for my opposition. 1. Trees provide shelter for hundreds birds which are a necessity for pollination and enjoyment. 2. Mature trees are an asset to a smaller build out which increases property value. 3. Most importantly, we are moving into a drought and increasing temperatures. Development of housing will put a strain on water reserves and mature trees require very little water other than rain, and new trees which I assume would be added to the housing development will use MUCH MORE water. 4. This is just more development without considering water use and over development. I agree with this citizen, Alan Cooper, who writes: “Many of the residents of San Luis Obispo are becoming increasingly concerned that the City seems determined to fast-track the kind of development that eliminates thoughtful, sustainable, and yes, “resilient” design - the kind of design we used to know where every attempt was made to work around healthy mature trees in order to preserve them. Too often, we’re being confronted with generic building sites where the land is both mass-graded and clear- cut. This is really unacceptable. Thank you for listening!” Linda Woods 1414 Morro St San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 805-471-1914 Sent from Mail for Windows 10 1
