Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Members of the Planning Commission: I was recently made aware of the 500 Westmont project and contacted Mr. Van Leeuwen. I received an email from him stating that notification had been mailed to residents and property owners within 300 feet of the project and that I should be receiving it soon. As of today, May 26, I still have not received a notification. I did go online, as Mr. Van Leeuwen suggested, and found the report. After reading it, I am concerned about some of the environmental issues this project is presenting. My family has enjoyed this open space for over 50 years and although I know development is inevitable, I feel that not enough consideration has been given to the impact of the removal of so many trees in the area. I feel there definitely needs to be more thought given to this part of the project. This area is home to several species of birds and animals and I don't think enough consideration has been given as to how it will affect their habitat. The creek and riparian areas are very important for the many wildlife species that use this space. I realize that some of the trees will have to be removed, but I think with a little creative thinking, many of the trees could be saved. I am not opposed to the development project, however, I would request that the Planning Commission reconsider the scale of the project and reduce the footprint near the creek and riparian area. This could be achieved by eliminating or reducing the size of Lots 1-3 which are adjacent to the creek, riparian area, and open space. Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter. Sincerely, Mrs. Barry Karleskint 1
