Subject:Use funds saved due to the Anholm Greenway Grant for other Tier 1 ATP projects

Dear Mayor and Council,
My family was excited to learn that our city was awarded a grant from the California Natural Resources Agency to
complete the Anholm Greenway Project. We've been awaiting the completion of this project for a very long time and
look forward to using it daily to access downtown from our home north of Foothill.
I'm writing to ask that you earmark the city funds previously allocated for the Anholm Greenway Project for the
completion of other Tier 1 projects in the city's Active Transportation Plan. The windfall from the grant should not
displace the resources allocated in the previous budget to support SLO's ATP efforts. Rather, it should augment and
accelerate our community's progress toward our agreed-upon active transportation goals.
It is my hope that my three children are able to travel by bike and by foot all over their hometown safely and in a low-
stress manner.... while they are still children. I urge you to use this opportunity to supercharge our collective ATP efforts,
and help us deliver a transportation legacy to the next generation that is less car-centric and more healthy, sustainable,
human-scaled, and safe and inclusive for all.
Thank you for all that you do.
Respectfully,
Marty Rippens and Family
