Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor Harmon & City Council, A few weeks ago I wrote a letter to council asking what would become of the $1.7 million allocated to implementing the Anholm Greenway now that it has been replaced by grant money. Staff responded saying they are planning to memorialize the intent to use those funds for a future active transportation project with the following resolution: I encourage the council to ensure this $1.7 million is spent on a Tier 1 ATP project and not returned to reserve funds. Regarding the $1.45 million CIP proposal to install solar lighting along the Bob Jones Trail, I would like to see these funds reallocated to an ATP Tier 1 project. To my knowledge, this project was not identified as a Tier 1 project likely to increase biking & walking in the ATP. I do not believe that installing lighting along this section of trail is likely to have any major impact on getting more people to bike and walk there at night. These funds could be better used on a project that was identified in the ATP as a Tier 1 project that will help create a mode shift. Perhaps solar lighting along the BJT could be considered in the future once that section of BJT connects with safe bike infrastructure such as protected bike lanes along South Higuera. Thank you for your consideration and for all the good work you're doing. Jesse Englert Bike SLO County Board Member & SLO Resident 1
